Take Control of Your Mind

to Build a Successful Practice

What if the key to boosting productivity and profits in your private practice was determined by the power of your mind?

As a health practitioner and private practice owner, you have a lot to juggle–an endless list of things to do, a team to lead, and patients who are looking to you for quality care. It is a recipe for extreme stress and fatigue. For many of my listeners, you may wonder if it is possible to grow your practice and work less. The short answer is “yes” and it all comes down to your mindset.

In this podcast, I interviewed Maurice Flournoy, a licensed mental health therapist and the founder of The New Mind Creator podcast

He is also a veteran of the US Navy and a keynote speaker. In today's episode, he reveals how simple mindfulness practices can help busy healthcare professionals to grow their practice and manifest the life of their dreams.

Take Control of Your Mind to Build a Successful Practice

Healthcare practitioners, do you feel like your mind is racing a million times a minute due to everything you need to get done?

You are not alone. Many physicians, dentists, and chiropractic doctors are in the exact same situation as you–with teams to lead, clients and patients to care for, and a whole practice to maintain and grow. It is enough to get anyone’s head spinning! But the reason why you work so hard is because you love what you do and you see the potential to create a life of abundance and financial freedom.

Here is something you need to know: Even though you are getting a lot of things done, that doesn’t mean you are being productive. Productivity simply means putting your time and resources to the best use in order to meet your goals. How do you expect to know where to spend your time if you are always living and working in chaos? And what if your busy-ness stands in the way of your success?

This is why it is so important to shift your mindset. A calm and clear mind allows for better decision-making and greater efficiency without losing your sanity. Imagine what it would like to have a steadily-growing practice that you can step away from one extra day per week. What would you do if you had more time and more income?

Here are 5 tips to take control of your mindset for more peace, greater productivity and success:

  1. Become more aware of your thoughts and actions. What you are doing may not be aligned with where you want to go. It is important to check in with yourself every day to see if you are getting closer or farther from accomplishing your goals.

2. Slow down and take in the simple things in life. After all, your mind goes through 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts a day and most of them are repetitive. Taking the time to breathe while sitting in a chair can go a long way to clearing out the mind clutter and preventing burnout.

3. Mindfulness and awareness practices only take minutes a day. Don’t worry about carving out a huge chunk of time if you have a full plate. You can take a “2-minute mental vacation” or you can have 10 minutes to meditate on your own. Taking these little breaks on a daily basis can make a huge difference in your life and private practice.

4. Making the time for you is a choice. You can choose to let your private practice determine your schedule or you can take control of your time and energy. It is up to you. Remember, your well-being will benefit your health and your practice at the same time. It is a win-win!

5. The subconscious mind is subjective, meaning it can work on impulse but can be easily imprinted too. Just like it can drive the need to smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol, it can free us from habits and addictions that do not serve us. This is the power of taking control of your mindset.

As a healthcare practitioner, it is important to take care of yourself even when it is difficult to find the time to do so. Remember, every person on the planet gets 24 hours in the day. If you have 8 hours of sleep and 8 hours to work, then that still leaves 8 hours of personal time. When you have the right processes and systems in place in your business and life, you can protect your personal time and have your private practice run like clockwork.

It all comes down to the power of your mind and remember what is important to you. All it takes is a few minutes a day!

Go take a walk and enjoy the sunshine. It will help you and your private practice!
